The Isuzu Electric Drive comes standard with a Series D.C. 20 KW 96-volt motor and has a peak of 85 horsepower with continuous duty service at 27 housepower.
We use two DC/DC converters in parallel to produce 44 amps of charging to the auxiliary batteries. This continual charging ensures the 12-volt power needed for accessories and applications.
Batteries
The system comes standard with sixteen 6-volt lead acid batteries rated at 245 amp hours. Each pack comes equipped with slide out trays for easy service and the Watermaster single point battery watering system. Options of 305 amp hour or 345 amp hour packs are available to increase ranges in needed applications.
Controller
The Isuzu Electric Drive controller is rated at 96-volts and 500 amps. It monitors and controls the amount of power going to the motor. This unit controls speed, acceleration and is equipped with over-reve control.
Safety
The electric drive system is designed with many safety features. Each unit offers a safety interlock to prevent the vehicle from being driven off while the charger is still connected to the vehicle. In addition, an emergency kill switch inside the cab and an accessory kill switch (for customer installed bodies or accessories) are standard features on the Isuzu electric drive system.
Charger
5 KW fully automatic charger. The standard unit provides approximately 40 amps per hour of charge. Upgrades of 7 KW and 9 KW chargers are available for applications that require faster recharging.
Capacities
The Isuzu electric drive has been specifically designed for Ground Support Applications. With a top speed of 25 M.P.H. and travel distances from 17 to 35 miles between charging, this unit meets most GSE requirements. The use of opportunity charging can dramatically increase the daily maximum mileages.
In Cab Features
